SIMPLY THE BEST!

Now it’s a wrap for Queenstown too! Adjudication went smoothly prior to and during the VIP Preview session at the busy Te Puahuru Event Centre on Friday 25 October with the Queenstown Finalist and two Highly Commended Artists announced by Lead Judge Karl Chitham at 7pm just before the Opening Night doors were thrown wide.

In a slight change of format the judges moved throughout the venue to make the individual presentations at the winning artist’s own ‘walls’ of work. Short speeches were made by the judges to delighted artists followed by the ceremonial removal of the three awarded works, from the artists own ‘walls’ and their prominent placement on the official Stuff Gold Award wall where they remained until the Show closed at 5pm Labour Day Monday 28 October.

The Judges were impressed by the quality of the works exhibited right across the inaugural Queenstown Art Show from entrants and non-entrants alike and felt that the three eventually chosen from the entrants well represented this quality.

Four Finalists have now been selected for the Art Aotearoa Gold Award for Art Excellence – one from each of the locations of New Zealand’s four best Art Shows.

The final step with be the Presentation of the overall winner of the Award – to one of these four regional Finalists – as selected by lead Judge Karl Chitham – at a small function in Christchurch on November 20.
