Jo Kreyl was brought up in Upper Hutt and loved drawing and bringing a little bit of her imagination to life. In 1991 Jo graduated from Wellington Polytechnic as an illustrator and over the years has created a wide range of artwork for many different clients around New Zealand and overseas.  In her current paintings Jo is fascinated in the history and beauty of ordinary or time worn objects. She likes to think about the lives of the people who may have lived with and used these items and wants to elevate them to items of importance.  She utilises dramatic Tenebrism lighting with its high contrast between light and dark to conceptualise time and freeze the objects in time like under a Victorian glass dome.
