TERMS & CONDITIONS The $50,000+ ART SHOWS ACROSS AOTEAROA GOLD AWARD

  • The $50,000+ ART SHOWS ACROSS AOTEAROA GOLD AWARD will be run in six progressive stages, one stage at each of the art shows presented by Art Shows Across Aotearoa during 2026, and one final stage to select the national winner.

  • ​One ASAA art show award finalist and three highly commended artists will be selected at each show throughout 2026 by an independent judge (supported in part by a public). Each of these finalists and highly commended artists will be selected prior to each show and announced at the VIP Preview of the show they are exhibiting at.​

  • Artist’s Choice Award will be voted on during the installation day at the relevant art show by the artist body exhibiting at each show. This award will be announced at that show’s VIP Preview event.

  • The OVERALL NATIONAL AWARD WINNER of the ART SHOWS ACROSS AOTEAROA GOLD AWARD will be selected by the independent judge (supported in part by public vote) from the five ASAA art show finalists after the final Art Shows Across Aotearoa art show for 2026.

  • The $50,000+ ART SHOWS ACROSS AOTEAROA GOLD AWARD comprises of both cash and benefits allocated across the five ASAA ART SHOW Finalist, ARTIST’S CHOICE AWARD WINNER and the OVERALL NATIONAL AWARD WINNER as follows:

  • Each ASAA ART SHOW FINALIST: 1 x 5 Panel 2027 Exhibition Pack plus 5 spotlights at that ASAA art show location:  Exhibition Pack Value $1,581. (includes entry 2027 ASAA Gold AWARD).

  • Each ARTIST’S CHOICE AWARD WINNER: $1,500.00

  • OVERALL NATIONAL AWARD WINNER: $30,000 CASH, 5 Panel 2027 Exhibition Packs at each of the other four 2027 Show Locations: Exhibition Pack Value $6,325.00.

  • Total prize value of cash and benefits: $51,731.00

  • Exhibition pack prizes are non-transferable.

  • All prize values include GST.

  • There are two categories via which you can enter this award. The first category being as an Artist Pack Exhibitor where you indicate your intention to enter the award on your application form to enter the show as artist pack. The second category being as an Award Exhibitor where as an artist who is not an artist pack exhibitor can apply to enter the show.

  • A prerequisite to enter the 2026 ART SHOWS ACROSS AOTEAROA GOLD AWARD is acceptance to exhibit in the specific ASAA art show that you are submitting your award to. All artists, Award exhibitors and Artist Pack Exhibitors, entering the award must be accepted as an exhibitor first and apply for entry to the relevant ASAA art show.

  • One entry for the 2026 ART SHOWS ACROSS AOTEAROA GOLD AWARD per show acceptance, per artist.

  • ENTRY FEES: ARTIST PACK EXHIBITORS A non-refundable entry fee of $25 plus GST is applicable to each award entry. Commission at the rate set for their individual artist exhibition pack. Applications to enter the award are made on application to exhibit at one of the ASAA’s 2025 location shows.

  • ENTRY FEES: AWARD EXHIBITOR A non-refundable fee of $30 plus GST is applicable to each award exhibitor intending to exhibit at any ASAA art show. Successful applicants will have their award artwork exhibited at the relevant show for sale at a 35% commission rate. Award entry fee for award exhibitor category is $75 incl gst. Award artwork will be on exhibit and for sale in the award area for the duration of the show. If work is to be couriered to the event a handling fee of $40.00 applies.

 

ARTWORK ENTRIES

 

  • The artist can enter only one award work at each ASAA art show.

  • Artists must be over 18 years old to apply to this award.

  • The artwork submitted can be no larger than 1200mm x 1200mm x 1200mm inclusive of framing, professionally presented, and ready to hang. Sculptural and object art work must not exceed these dimensions (inclusive of plinth) and can be free standing. Work that is wall hung cannot be heavier than 10 kilos (and may require extra hangers if at this weight).

  • Artwork must be the artist’s own original work and must fit the dimensions required. Prints are not accepted. If in doubt about the compliance of your proposed entry, please contact organisers prior to submitting your entry, to clarify.

  • The artwork entered must have been completed within one calendar year prior to the entry date and may not have been previously exhibited publicly, including galleries, exhibitions, art shows and art trails.

  • All artworks must have secure surfaces eg: fragile pastel and charcoal surfaces must be ‘fixed’. All works must be dry.

  • All artworks must be ready and easy to hang. That is, they must be professionally presented and be suitable strung, with wire/cord attached to D rings with no protruding nails or screws. The artwork must be dry. If not presented in a ready-to-hang manner the artwork may be rejected and will not be hung. In the same manner sculptural and object art entries can be rejected for similar reasons if they are not easily installed.

  • All entries are to be for sale.

  • Artists are encouraged to present their entry on social media to showcase their participation on the award.

  • The organisers reserve the right to reject any non-compliant or unsuitable artworks for any reason whatsoever without discussion with the entrant.

  • Any correspondence between the artist and the organisers is confidential and will not be shared with third parties unless authorised.

 

TO COMPLETE YOUR SUBMISSION

 

  • You will be sent a submission link that will require you to enter the images and information required. This link asks you to check each requirement to confirm your entry is valid for adjudication.

  • The submission link must be completed 25 days before the opening night of the art show for which that entry has been made, to be valid.

  • Three high resolution images of the entered artwork, including one high resolution image showing the scale of the artwork, one high resolution image showing close-up detail and one work of the award entry.

  • High resolution images are to be uploaded in JPEG file format no greater than 2 MB.

  • Images must be a true and accurate representation of the artwork entered.

  • The image file name to include artists initials only, the artwork dimensions in millimetres (WxHxD) and the artwork’s unique name e.g. AB 1000 x 800 x 45mm Unique Artwork Name.

  • Award entrants must submit an up-to-date Artist Bio of not less than 150 words. This will be used as your official blurb with any publication that we may publish.

  • Entrants give their permission for bios, photos, videos and images of themselves and their work to be used for marketing and promotional purposes on the web, on social media platforms and in print including all ASAA Art Show platforms.

 

 JUDGING 

 

  • Judging for each round of this award will be undertaken by an independent judge (supported in parts by a public and an artist vote). Four artworks will be chosen from the submission link entries that are completed for the each ASAA art show by the due date, these 4 artworks will be submitted for a public vote via our media platforms. The resulting public votes will be presented to the independent judge and will form part the final vote for the finalists. The public voting process will be used to maximise public awareness, allowing increased exposure for the award and artists.

  • At each show the four selected artworks, are to be delivered to the sales desk during load in and will be hung on the award wall. The finalist for each ASAA art show, highly commended and Artist’s Choice Award will be announced at the VIP Preview event. Each of these four artists will be required to be available for appropriate media purposes at the VIP Preview event.

  • After the final ASAA art show for 2025, the five finalists’ works will be submitted for a public vote via ASAA media platform. The resulting public votes will be presented to the independent judge and will form part the final vote for the national award winner. The public voting process will be used to maximise public awareness, allowing increased exposure for the award and artists.

  • The national winner will be announced (date to be advised via ASAA media platforms.

  • Judging decisions are final, and no discussion will be entered into.

  • Award terms and conditions can be subject to change. Entrants will be advised of any changes.

  • Judge to be announced prior to the first Art Shows Across Aotearoa art show in 2026.
