Artist trial Freight Service

Based on the feedback that we have received from artists we are pleased to announce that we are trialling a new freight service. We want to provide an economical solution for artists transporting works to and from our North and South Island shows. This trial offers significant savings for ASAA artists requiring freight services and gives artists the opportunity to participate in multiple ASAA shows. For those artists who have committed to and paid for all five 2026 shows, this service will be provided at no cost.

 

Initially we will trial three freight runs, these routes are sequential and artworks will travel directly with us, avoiding any third-party involvement. Please find the runs complete with designated routes and pricing below.

Run 1: Auckland city to Christchurch SHOW.

Start date in AKL 16-4 with delivery to CHC art show. Rates $240 cubic metre plus G.S.T.

Run 2: Christchurch city to Auckland SHOW to Tauranga SHOW to Auckland city to Christchurch city.

Start date CHCH 13-7 with delivery/pickup to AKL show, with delivery/pickup to TGA show back to CHC by 7-9. Rates $485 cubic metre plus G.S.T.

Run 3: Christchurch to Queenstown SHOW to Christchurch.

Start date CHCH 19-10 delivery to Queenstown show and back to CHCH 2-11. Rates $110 cubic metre plus G.S.T.

  • CONDITIONS

  • Artists require own insurance for transport and storage during trips.

  • SHOW, means delivered to the art show listed.

  • If artist is not ready for the agreed time/location for collection then the charge would still apply.

  • Multiple artworks of same size to be in one box.

  • Artwork must be be suitably wrapped. Two layers with one water proof and one hard, to allow for condensation and knocks i.e. cardboard and bubble wrap.

  • Pick up and delivery will have assigned points/dates for artist/s to meet our vehicle with their artworks.

  • Freight route will be state highway 1(except ZQN which would be via Tekapo /direct route from Akl to TGA).

  • Any separate collection/drop off point for artist/s would need to be negotiated separately and could incur additional costs.

  • Cost to send artworks from delivery point at end of run is the artist/s responsibility.

  • Storage will be required for Run 2, this will be at our cost ( in trailer and/or in separate storage area).

  • Maximum weight for boxes is 30kg.

  • Freight over 1.8 metres or 30kg would need to be discussed before acceptance.

  • Once the run is fully booked this offer will close.

  • More than one run can be booked per artist.

  • Minimum charge $100 plus G.S.T.

  • Rates will not change if fuel price changes

HOW TO WORK OUT  FREIGHT CHARGES

To work out a price measure each box to be collected by length, width, height and multiply together for total cube. Two examples below.

 

Example 1: (artworks to fit a standard SUV with seats down).

6 large artworks in a box 1.5m * 1.2m * 0.5m = 0.9m2 

10 average artwork in a box 0.8m * 0.8m * 0.8m = 0.5m2

30 small artworks in a box 0.3m * 0.3m * 1.0m = 0.1m2

Example 1 charge = a total 1.5 cube or 1.5m2 (prices less G.S.T.).

Run 1 AKL-CHC Total price $240 * 1.5m2 = $360

Run 2 CHC-AKL-TGA-AKL-CHC Total price $485 * 1.5m2 = $727

Run 3 CHC-ZQN-CHC Total price $110 * 1.5m2 = $165

 

Example 2: (artworks too large for the plane that require transport).

5 large artworks in a box 1.5 * 1.2 * 0.4 = 0.72 cube

 

Example 2 charge a total cube of 0.9 (prices less G.S.T.).

Run 1 AKL-CHC Total price $240 * 0.72 = $173

Run 2 CHC-AKL-TGA-AKL-CHC Total price $485 * 0.72 = $349

Run 3 CHC-ZQN-CHC Total price $110 * 0.72 = $79 (minimum charge $100).
