Jodie Appleton

Jodie moved to New Zealand from Yorkshire, England after travelling in Africa and Australia, over a decade ago, bringing with her a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in Fine Art. She settled in the Taupō region and displayed her drawings in Pihanga Gallery, Tūrangi. Jodie is now developing her work by using pyrography. Jodie recently had a solo exhibition at Taupō Museum named “From the Ashes”.  A key theme running through From the Ashes is one of connection, creating links between the environment and those who explore it. The work is a series of drawings created by using a woodburning pen to burn marks into slabs of wood.
