Catherine Coster Contemporary Art
My art is strongly shaped by my connection to wild places. I grew up on 4500 acres of untouched Australian bush and my love for it was part of who I was and shaped who I am. My fondest memories as a child are of walking through the bush with my nanna, touching a wildflower here and there and listening to the song of the birds. A thunderstorm would see me dancing and leaping off an old eucalypt stump as the lightening cracked around me. As an adult I still feel most alive out in the elements. I am drawn to the extremes and contrasts in landscapes, and this can be seen in my colour palette. For me the contrasts mimic life. As a counsellor I see the resilience and grace of people during hard times and my landscapes reflect these themes. Landscape is my teacher, my muse and my joy.
