It’s now a wrap for Auckland! Adjudication went smoothly prior to and during the busy buzz of the VIP Preview session at the iconic Viaduct Event Centre on Friday 12 July with the Auckland Finalist and two Highly Commended Artists announced at 8pm on Opening Night.

Some short speeches and presentations were made by Lead Judge Karl Chitham, National Judge Frances Morton from Stuff Media and Regional Judge Ngaire Stone – with winning works transferred from the artists own ‘walls’ and prominently placed on the official Stuff Gold Award wall for viewing by the thousands of Show attendees moving through the venue – until their removal when the Show closed at 5pm Sunday 14 July.

The Judges were impressed by the quality and variety of the works exhibited right across the Auckland Art Show from the large number of entrants and non-entrants alike and felt that the three works eventually chosen from the entrants well represented this quality.

Four Finalists are being selected for the Art Aotearoa Gold Award for Art Excellence – one from each of the locations of New Zealand’s four best Art Shows – Christchurch, Wellington, Auckland and Queenstown to come in October.
