Congratulations Rashi Shandaliya!
Rashi's work ‘Draupadi in Mahabharata’ was selected as one of the two only HIGHLY COMMENDED Regional Artists for the STUFF Gold Award on 12 July 2024 at the Auckland Art Show.
Rashi was born in India and since 2023 has been based in Auckland New Zealand. Rashi graduated in Computer Science & Engineering and developed a successful career as a Software Engineer but her childhood passion for art never faded. Rashi is now wholeheartedly embracing her true calling as an artist.
Rashi’s approach is rooted in theme-based and figurative realism, where she strives to create paintings that are both visually striking and thought-provoking. Rashi says “My artwork references cultural heritage, inner feelings, and the relationships that shape our sense of self and community. Through my pieces, I examine the complexities of human forms and the ways in which they interact with the world around them.
My oil painting titled “Draupadi in Mahabharata”, capturing the central character of Draupadi in great epic Mahabharata in Hindu mythology, stands as a symbol of grace, of the undying spirit of womanhood and the epitome of feminism. Draupadi’s presence in the epic serves as a reminder of the power of righteousness and the eternal struggle for justice, making her a revered figure in literature, art, and religious thought.”
