Mickey Espino is a contemporary artist based in Hawke's Bay. He describes his works as confluence of art and the psychology because he derives inspiration from human phenomenological experience. 

Having a degree in Psychology and a career in the hospital that specialises in the rehabilitation and therapy of people with neurological conditions provide him with an arsenal of inspiration. This is evident in his works inspired by the principles of kintsugi - the Japanese tradition and art of mending broken objects. For him, there is beauty in brokenness and imperfection.
