Congratulations to Zoë Marsden!
Zoe's award entry ‘The Station’ was selected as one of the two only HIGHLY COMMENDED Regional Artists for the STUFF Gold Award at The Wellington Art Show 2024.
Zoë Marsden is a British-born artist now residing in Wellington, New Zealand. Her highly detailed urban landscape paintings feature derelict, unusual buildings and structures left abandoned in the landscape – without purpose or function. Zoë is drawn to their mysterious, somewhat forlorn and eerie presence and the stories and memories they hold – endeavouring always to capture this atmosphere within her work.
Zoë won the Craigs Aspiring Art Prize 2024 with her painting 'The Lookout' and was recently selected as a finalist in the 2024 New Zealand Paint and Printmaking Awards.
Her work has found a place in private collections in New Zealand and the UK.
Zoë undertook formal art education in the UK to Postgraduate level before beginning a career as a painter and prosthetic make-up artist in the film and television industry for 16 years. Her credits include renowned productions such as Harry Potter, Star Wars, Game of Thrones, Ghost in The Shell, The Hobbit, and Avatar.
Zoë returned to her fine art practice in 2022.
