ARTIST SOCIAL MEDIA POLICY FOR SELF PROMOTION AT ASAA EVENTS
Please read our social media policy for artists who are self promoting via their social media at our events. We have a Third-Party Commercial Filming Policy at ASAA in place that requires approval and accreditation before commercial third parties can commence any commercial filming, promotional shooting, or brand content creation.
As an exhibiting artist at our events you must agree to comply with our Artist Social Media Promotion Policy below, before you take photos or film limited short films for your self-promotion.
-
Equipment and Hazards: Flash photography, external lights, tripods, and selfie sticks are strictly banned to prevent damage and keep walkways clear. Heavy equipment, large lighting rigs, booms, or drones are strictly prohibited. Handheld gimbals and small, non-tripod setups are acceptable. You must not block lines of sight to artworks, crowd flow, or access to sales desks.
-
Any Filming Must Strictly be of Short Clips Only.
-
Public Privacy: Third parties must obtain verbal or written consent from any members of the public who are prominently featured in the footage. Images and film to taken in public spaces only; not in public restrooms, changing rooms, artist storage areas, artist lounges, administrative areas, back of house areas or medical/first aid areas.
-
Incidental Background Filming of Art Show Only: Filming is restricted to wide-angle "atmosphere" shots of the crowd and art show event. Close-up, high-definition filming of specific artworks is strictly prohibited unless explicit written sign-off is granted by the specific artist, or the artwork is the artist’s (your) own work. You only own the rights to your work. If you film another artist’s work and it is visible in the background, you are now a "third party" infringing on that other artist's copyright.
-
No Direct Monetisation: Third parties may not feature individual artworks as the primary subject of a video if that video is used to sell a non-art product, service, or digital subscription (e.g., a fashion brand using an artist's painting as a background without permission). Management reserves the right to charge a commercial location fee or require a revenue-share agreement if the footage is directly monetized.
-
Content Takedown Rights: ASAA management reserves the right to demand the immediate removal or editing of any published content that misrepresents the event, breaches artist copyright, or violates local cultural protocols.
-
Footage Ownership: The third-party content creator retains the raw copyright of the filmed footage, subject to the limitations of the artist's intellectual property rights and those of ASAA.
-
No Stock Footages/Resale: The third party may not sell, licence, or distribute the footage to third-party stock libraries (e.g., Shutterstock, Getty Images) or other commercial brands, as the underlying artworks remain the sole property of the artists.
-
Use of ASAA Images and Videos: Our images and videos are proprietary, paid marketing assets created by our videographers and photographers. We ask that artists do not screenshot or save and repost our digital assets. Artists can reshare our images and videos using the appropriate reposting functions on the social media platforms that we promote our events on. This will ensure proper licensing compliance for everyone.
-
Use of Logos: ASAA shares their logo with the artist once they are accepted to exhibit. This is a limited use of our logo as an asset for promotion at the show that you the artist is exhibiting at only. Our logos and dates must be clearly recognisable when used appropriately. Our trademarks and logos are owned by Jackfish ltd and our partners and sponsors. The use of these is prohibited without the express, prior written permission of Jackfish ltd or any relevant third party.
