We would like to share with you the news of our latest award- winning artists below...we greatly appreciate the judges and sponsors who contribute to these prestigious awards.
The STUFF Art Aotearoa Gold Award for art excellence is a national Award generously sponsored by Stuff Media that has an overall value of $35,000+ and will be progressively adjudicated across New Zealand’s four main Art Shows in four different New Zealand cities throughout 2024, culminating in the overall Gold Award Presentation to a single winner in November 2024. A regional Finalist will be selected by the judging panel at each of these 2024 Art Shows in Christchurch in March, Wellington in April, Auckland in July and finally Queenstown in October. Subsequent to this Lead Judge Karl Chitham will select the ultimate Winner.
Congratulations to Canterbury artist Sam Young! The first ever Regional Finalist of the prestigious STUFF Art Aotearoa Gold Award for Art Excellence!
Sam is one of four finalists that are progressively selected and announced at each of our art shows throughout our art show exhibition year - with the ultimate WINNER being selected after the final 2024 Show in Queenstown.

Cathy Brickhill and Jason Fastier, are the two Highly Commended Artists chosen by Karl Chitham, Kim Wright-Stow and Frances Morton.
Both Cathy and Jason impressed the judges with the quality of their works entered into The STUFF Art Aotearoa Gold Award.

The Lawson's Dry Hills PINK People's Choice Award Winner Christchurch is artist Nancy Tschetner!
Ten artists are selected from each of our four shows to create an artwork to represent them on the award wall for the PINK People's Choice Award. The award winner for each of our four shows PINK Awards is voted in on the spirit of being the "people's choice" by Art Shows Across Aotearoa’s audience, friends and supporters.
“FIND YOUR BALANCE” was inspired by the notes on the bottle of Lawson's luscious Pink Pinot. Congratulations Nancy!

Libby McColl is the winning artist selected by Liquitex NZ for the Liquitex Sponsorship New Zealand Art Award.
Libby impressed Liquitex with her inspirational use of colour and technique. Libby will receive a three- panel pack for next year's show plus some amazing Liquitex products.

Jason Fastier has had a great show with us in Christchurch, not only selected by Winsor & Newton NZ as the Winsor & Newton Sponsorship New Zealand Art Award recipient, Jason received a "Highly Commended" for his STUFF Art Aotearoa Gold Award entry.
Jason is an example of an artist dedicated to the craft of fine art and good practice, whilst finding new ways to explore his creativity.
Jason will receive a three- panel pack for next year's show plus some amazing Winsor & Newton products.

Chris Lynch has selected his choice for the Hann Construction Celebrity Pick Award - an award unique to The Christchurch Art Show!
The winning artist is Nicola Reif - pastel artist from Nelson who receives free panels for our 2024 show!
