STUFF GOLD AWARD WELLINGTON REGIONAL JUDGE

The entries are in! The artworks complete. The judges are lined up ready to go!

Who will be chosen as the Wellington Regional Finalist for this prestigious Award?

In each region, the judging panel comprises three very experienced art sector specialists. Art Shows Across Aotearoa are delighted to announce the 2024 Wellington Regional Judge is colourful stalwart of the Wellington Arts Scene, Ron Epskamp. As Owner and Director of Exhibitions Gallery of Fine Art in Wellington CBD for eighteen years Ron is pleased to have orchestrated the shift of the Gallery in new, bigger & brighter premises in Brandon Street this year.

Ron Epskamp has significant prior experience contributing to art judging panels, to curating community projects and to facilitating touring exhibitions and his contribution to the Gold Award adjudication is highly anticipated and very much valued.

Ron will be working with Lead Judge Karl Chitham from The Dowse one of New Zealand’s leading contemporary galleries and third Judge Frances Morton from Stuff Media at the VIP Preview and Opening Night of the Wellington Art Show at Tākina Event Centre on April 19 to select the second of the regional finalists to go through to the top four.

With the Opening Night of the Wellington Art Show at Tākina only short weeks away, the suspense is mounting over which of the talented Award entrants will be nominated as the second regional finalist to join Sam Young from Christchurch to compete for the ultimate prize.  The recipients of the two Highly Commended awards will also be selected and announced.

Another amazing judging line-up for what is promising to become one of New Zealand’s most innovative, interesting and financially rewarding Art Awards – the STUFF $35,000 Art Aotearoa Gold Award for Art Excellence.
